Storm Clouds.

Some days are better than others.

As I adjust to this new normal, I have noticed that there are some days where I just don’t feel like it. Any of it. I just don’t even want to get out of bed.

Look, I know it’s normal, so I’m not concerned, and I’m all about being positive in my bonus life, so I’m going to be ok.

But sometimes, it would be lovely to just…walk.

I’m a person who’s used to having a ton of autonomy. So, the need for someone to help me get out of the house, and for me not to be able to go anywhere without someone, not only kind of makes me feel like a burden on whoever that person is, but it also makes me a little sad.

Yes, surprising absolutely no one, I sometimes miss my life on two legs.

I’m still recovering. It’s a process. And it’s one I’m running (metaphorically, of course) headlong into, really mining every moment for the good things, and trying to appreciate what an opportunity I have.

But, some days, I just don’t feel like it.

And that’s fine. I just don’t want to get used to not feeling like it, because that’s a slippery slope, and it leads to nowhere good.

So, here’s what I’m hoping.

I meet it, and acknowledge it, and face it head on, and then I wake up tomorrow morning feeling like myself again.

My new self, that is.

As always, if you have it in you, please give a thought to donating time or money to Hospice Austin. They do amazing work for people who are going through the hardest thing a person can face.
